Friday, May 2, 2025 — Group 2 of the R1 Compost Program has successfully completed their full composting cycle, which began on December 21, 2024, and was harvested today, May 2, 2025, after 132 days of decomposition. The compost showed excellent signs of maturity—odorless, crumbly, and dark black in color—indicating a successful and optimal breakdown process.
The compost distribution was met with great enthusiasm and pride, as it marked the result of months of hard work by the farmers, who regularly turned the compost during every gotong royong (communal work) session. Special thanks go to Marini for accompanying the group from beginning to end, and to the Tanahara team for providing tools and materials. The farmers also send warm regards and appreciation to Kang Zulhiyadi, @andipetaniwow, and @Gitagutawa21.
With this harvest completed, the composting activity for Group 2 (SH Pasput) is now officially concluded. While there are no further collective work sessions scheduled at the moment, each farmer will continue implementing agroforestry practices individually on their own farms, using the compost they produced to support soil regeneration.
Final result: a total of 170 compost sacks were produced—10 sacks short of the target of 10 sacks per farmer for all 18 members of the group. Nevertheless, the energy, unity, and pride of the farmers remain the true harvest of this process, reinforcing that collective action continues to be the backbone of a resilient and self-sufficient farming system.
