The R1 composting activity by Group 1 continues to make solid progress. During today’s session, 10 out of 12 farmers were present, all showing high enthusiasm to harvest the compost they had worked hard on. The compost from the first bed has met the criteria for maturity—odorless, dark in color, and although the texture is not very crumbly due to the use of coarse palm fiber, it is still considered suitable for use.
From this first compost bed, the group successfully produced 86 sacks of compost. The second bed, however, is not yet ready for harvest and will be turned once more next week to accelerate the decomposition process and ensure the final product meets quality standards.
During packaging, farmers discovered a Uret (soil larvae). Fortunately, they manually checked and cleaned each sack to ensure the compost distributed is safe and clean.
This activity reflects the strong commitment of Group 1 farmers, who—despite facing technical challenges—remain focused on producing quality compost and maintaining the spirit of collective work.
